Plaster can hide a lot in an older Los Angeles home, including what's really holding up the wall behind your TV. That's why we look at the mounting surface first, agree on placement with you, and keep the finished setup neat. An older Echo Park home and a Hollywood high-rise raise different questions before the first hole is drilled. Los Angeles housing takes in plaster finishes, Craftsman homes and apartment buildings, and a neighborhood name alone can't tell us what will support your TV. Plaster doesn't always mean drywall, and not every apartment has concrete walls, so we check the actual wall rather than guessing.

Where there's no stud behind the spot on drywall, TVs up to 55 inches go on metal snap-toggle anchors with a fixed mount; we don't put a full-motion arm in that setup. Brick and concrete take masonry anchors suited to the wall, and tile calls for slow, patient drilling. Cables run inside the wall cavity on drywall; on brick or concrete they go in a paintable cord cover. We don't cut into brick or stone to bury a wire — a neat surface route keeps the masonry intact.

Should I secure a freestanding TV for Los Angeles earthquakes?

Yes. Earthquake Country Alliance recommends securing televisions, whether with straps to the furniture or with a wall-mounting kit used according to its instructions. We match the mount to your TV and your wall. Keep in mind what securing does: it reduces the risk of tipping, but it doesn't make the TV earthquake-proof, and tall furniture needs to be addressed separately.

Can you mount above a fireplace in an older LA home?

First we find out what's holding up the wall. Plaster can cover lath or masonry, so a stud finder coming up empty isn't an answer by itself. Then we look at fireplace heat and mantel depth. Gas and wood-burning fireplaces call for more height; a pull-down mount brings the screen down to viewing level when the fireplace is off.

Can you mount in my LA rental without risking my deposit?

Yes, we mount in rentals, but we can't promise what your landlord will or won't deduct when you move out. Check the drilling and restoration expectations before you book. When you leave, we can take the TV down and patch the mounting holes; agree on the finish you need ahead of time, especially in an apartment with older plaster walls.

Can I book TV wall mounting for a UCLA dorm room?

UCLA Housing's published guidance doesn't allow TV wall mounting in on-campus rooms, so we don't treat those rooms like an ordinary apartment booking. A private Westwood rental is a different story: check your lease and building rules, and tell us which kind of housing you're in before we arrange a visit.

Does patching an old LA wall include lath-and-plaster restoration?

We patch mounting holes, but that isn't the same as restoring a traditional lath-and-plaster wall; plaster and drywall are different systems. Tell us what finish you have and the result you're after before booking, so the repair scope is clear before the TV comes down.

What should I arrange for a Hollywood high-rise visit?

Ask your building about visitor parking, entry procedures, elevator access and any work-hour restrictions, then pass the details to our team; requirements vary from one building to the next. We'll also need your TV size and the wall you have in mind — a high-rise address alone doesn't tell us what the wall is made of.

How high should a TV be mounted?

In a living room we put the center of the screen at seated eye level — about 42 inches from the floor for most sofas. In a bedroom, where you watch lying down, we go higher: the center is usually around 48–55 inches. We measure to the center of the screen, not the bottom edge. We don't hang a TV "gallery high" just because the wall is empty. If it has to go higher (over a dresser or a fireplace), we use a tilting mount angled down so you're not craning your neck.

How long does TV mounting take?

A standard mount on drywall takes about an hour for most TVs. Hiding the wires inside the wall, mounting on brick or concrete, a soundbar or a very large TV adds time — usually up to 2–3 hours in total. We don't rush the job to squeeze in more appointments, and we tell you the expected time before we start.

Do you offer same-day and weekend installation?
